Terms of use

Last updated 13 October 2026

These terms cover your use of Page Patterns at pagepatterns.com, which is run by Peter Claridge ("we" or "us"). By using Page Patterns you agree to them. If you have a question, email hello@pagepatterns.com.

The service

Page Patterns is a free tool for making pattern backgrounds for websites. The editor runs in your browser and needs no account. The MCP server for AI agents runs on your computer and needs a free key. We may change, pause or stop the service, or any part of it, at any time.

Your patterns

  • The patterns you make and export are yours. You can use them for any purpose, including commercial work, client projects, website templates and products you sell, without crediting Page Patterns.
  • We claim no rights in what you make, and we don't see it: your designs stay on your device unless you share them.
  • You are responsible for anything you add to a design, such as a custom shape or an image you trace, and for having the right to use it.

The app itself

The Page Patterns app, its code, its built-in looks, the name Page Patterns and the logo belong to Peter Claridge. You may not copy the app, or offer it or a close copy of it as your own product or service. You can sell work that uses patterns you made, but please don't resell the built-in looks unchanged as a pattern pack. Where part of Page Patterns is published under an open source licence, that licence applies to that part.

Accounts and keys

A key for the MCP server is free, one per person, and for you alone. Keep it private: don't share it or publish it. We may turn off a key that is shared, published or used to overload the service. You can delete your account at any time on the account page.

The MCP server package is licensed under the PolyForm Shield License 1.0.0, which applies to it in place of the section above. The patterns you make with it are yours, as described under Your patterns.

Fair use

Please don't misuse the service: don't try to break it, overload it, get around its limits, or use it to break the law.

No warranty

We work to make Page Patterns reliable, but it is provided free of charge and as it is. Check that exported files work in your project before you rely on them. We don't promise that the service will always be available or free of errors.

Liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, data or business, arising from your use of Page Patterns, and our total liability to you is limited to £100.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you use Page Patterns as a consumer, your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

Other services

The AI tools you paste prompts into, and the sites and hosts you add patterns to, have their own terms, which apply to your use of them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. If you keep using Page Patterns after a change, the updated terms apply.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
