Hand edits and tracing
Fine-tune, Hand edits and Traced image
For the last few changes: switch single shapes off, paint over areas, or trace a screenshot of your page so the pattern lines up with it.
Shape toggle
Press T, then click a shape to switch it off. Click a hidden shape to bring it back. The shape under the pointer gets a white outline, even when it is hidden, so you can find it again.
Brush
Press B and paint over the canvas. Choose what the brush does in the bar above the canvas: hide, show, boost, dim, or erase hand edits. [ and ] change the brush size.
How hand edits are kept
Each edit belongs to a cell of the grid, so it survives changes to opacity, colour, zones and gap. If you change the shape, size, stretch, rotation or artboard size, a bar offers Keep my edits, which moves each edit to the nearest new cell, or Clear edits. Reset hand edits in Fine-tune removes them all.
Trace an image
Choose Load image to trace from the menu, or drop or paste an image on the canvas, to show a screenshot of your page over the artboard. Line up the pattern, zones and fill shapes with it. The Traced image group sets its opacity and scale, shows or hides it, and locks it in place. Turn off Lock image to drag it with the Select tool.
The traced image is never exported. Where your browser supports it, the pipette next to each colour picks colours from it. For halftone dots, a traced image can also set the dot sizes: see Size field.
